The First Print: Stories and
Legends of Early Singapore

We all grew up with the story of Sang Nila Utama and learnt how he founded Singapura, the “Lion City”. The 17th-century Malay court chronicle, Sulalat-al-Salatin, more commonly referred to as Sejarah Melayu (Malay Annals), is one of the few surviving materials that describe the early history of Singapore before the arrival of Raffles. 

This exhibition is to discover
timeless stories from the Sejarah Melayu such as the strong man Badang and the attack of the garfish which continue to enchant writers and readers everywhere.
